Create a stat card to show calculated record values from one or more workspaces.


Stat cards show real-time calculated values from one or more workspaces. Use them to monitor record counts or numeric custom field data.

Create a stat card

Set the title

Enter a title that identifies the metric. Examples include “Monthly Sales,” “Open Issues,” and “Weekly Active Users.”

Add values

Add one or more values to a stat card. Each value uses data from a specified workspace.

  • Record counts: Count the records in a workspace.
  • Custom field calculations: Calculate values from custom field data. For example, sum a “Project Price” field to show the total budget.

Apply view filters to limit the records included in a value.

Add logic

Use logic to calculate the value shown on the stat card.

  1. Type { to open the list of available values.
  2. Select the values to include in the formula.
  3. Type = to open the function list.
  4. Select a function.

Available functions include:

  • AVERAGE: Calculates the mean of a set of numbers.
  • AVERAGEA: Calculates the average and treats text as zero.
  • COUNT: Counts entries in a number field.
  • COUNTA: Counts non-empty values.
  • MAX: Returns the maximum value in a set.
  • MIN: Returns the minimum value in a set.
  • MINUS: Subtracts one value from another.
  • MULTIPLY: Multiplies two values.
  • SUM: Adds a series of numbers.

Configure the display

Select how the stat card displays its calculated value.

Stat cards come with three display options:

  1. Number: Shows a number with your selected number of decimal places.
  2. Currency: Shows a monetary value with local formatting and a currency symbol.
  3. Percentage: Converts the calculated value to percentage format.

Track progress against a target

A number on its own tells you where you are, not whether that’s good. Turn on Track a target and the card also shows how far along you are, how much is left, and whether you’re on track.

A stat card with a target is called a goal card. You can add one from the Goal Card option when you add a chart, or by turning on Track a target while editing any existing stat card. Turning the switch back off returns it to a plain stat card.

Set the target

Choose where the target comes from:

  • A fixed number: Type the target, such as 1000. It stays the same no matter how the data changes.
  • Calculated from data: Pick a workspace, field and calculation, exactly like a value. The target is recalculated from your records, so it moves as they change.

A target must be greater than zero.

Say which direction is good

Some metrics should go up, and others should go down. Set Good is to match:

  • Higher than target: for revenue against quota, or records completed against a goal.
  • Lower than target: for a response time against an SLA, or spend against a budget.

This flips how the card reads the same numbers. At 80% of target, “higher is better” is a warning, while “lower is better” is comfortably inside the limit.

Choose how it looks

  • Progress bar: a compact bar with the percentage and the remaining amount. It fits the same space as a normal stat card.
  • Gauge: a dial with red, amber and green zones and a marker for the current value. Best for bounded metrics like compliance or utilisation. A gauge card is twice as wide.

Adjust the status thresholds

The card labels itself On track, At risk or Behind target. Both thresholds are percentages of the target, and you can change either one.

By default, when higher is better, 100% or more is on track and 80% or more is at risk. When lower is better the order flips: 100% or less is on track, and anything over 120% is behind.

Track the pace against a date range

A percentage on its own doesn’t say whether you’re getting there fast enough. 60% of a quota is good news in week three and bad news in week eleven. Set a Start date and an End date on the target and the card judges you against the calendar as well as the number.

Set both dates or neither — one on its own is rejected, as is an end date on or before the start date.

With a date range set, a progress card also shows:

  • A Today marker on the bar, at the point you have reached in the period.
  • The expected figure beside the percentage, reading 60% · expected 45% — where a steady, even run would have put you by today.
  • The date range the target covers.

The status label changes to read pace rather than raw progress: On pace, At risk, or Behind pace. It compares what you have against what an even run would have achieved by today, so being at 60% with 45% expected is on pace, not behind.

The label also follows the period:

  • Before the start date the card reads Not started.
  • After the end date it settles on the result — Target met or Target missed, and Under limit or Over limit when lower is better.

Pace is measured in whole days, in your own timezone, so the reading rolls over at your midnight and a daylight-saving change cannot shift it.

Dateless cards and gauge cards are unchanged: they keep reading raw progress with the On track, At risk, and Behind target labels.

How dashboard filters affect a target

This catches people out, so it’s worth being explicit:

  • A fixed target never changes. Filtering the dashboard changes the value but not the target, so the percentage moves.
  • A calculated target is recalculated under the same filter as the value. Filtering to one workspace compares that workspace’s value against that workspace’s target.

A bare 84% of 1,000 doesn’t say what the 1,000 is. Type a word into Call the targetquota, SLA, budget — and the card reads 84% of 1,000 quota instead.

Exporting

Exporting a goal card to CSV gives you the records behind its value, the same as a plain stat card. The target isn’t a set of records, so it isn’t part of the export.

Show how the metric is moving

A number tells you where you are. It doesn’t tell you which way you’re going. Turn on Compare to the previous period and the card also shows how the metric has moved, with a small trend line under it.

This works on any stat card, with or without a target.

Choose what to compare

  • Measure by: which date each record is counted on — when it was created, when it was completed, or when it’s due. A record with both a start date and a due date is counted on its due date, so it sits at one point on the trend line rather than stretching across it.
  • Compare: week over week, month over month, quarter over quarter, or year over year.

The card then shows a line like +14% vs previous month, coloured green when the movement is good news and red when it isn’t. Which one is which comes from Good is — the same setting a goal card uses. On a response time measured against an SLA, a rise is bad news even though the number went up.

If there were no records at all in the previous period there’s no percentage to show — you can’t compare against nothing — so the card says New vs previous month instead.

You’ll see that at the very start of a period too, and it isn’t a fault. At 8am on the 1st of the month the card is comparing eight hours against the same eight hours of the 1st of last month, and both are often empty. It settles as the day goes on.

It always compares like with like

The comparison is this period so far against the same stretch of the last one. On the 20th of the month it compares the 1st–20th of this month against the 1st–20th of last month, never against the whole of last month. Otherwise every metric would look like it had collapsed on the 2nd of each month.

A card that already filters by date still gets a comparison

This one catches people out, so it’s worth spelling out.

Say your card counts records completed this month, and you set the comparison to measure by completed date. Those two would cancel each other out — there are no records completed last month inside a card filtered to this month, so the card would report −100% forever.

So the comparison ignores the card’s own filter on that one date field, and applies its own window instead. Everything else about the filter stays: a card limited to one workspace still only compares that workspace, and a filter on a different date is left alone.

The short version: the big number is exactly what your filter says. The percentage below it is the same measurement over the last two periods.

The trend line

Draw the trend line adds a chart beside the number, covering both periods. The card gets wider to make room — the number and its detail on the left, the line on the right — and stays the same height as every other stat card.

The line is about shape, not size — its scale fits the data it’s drawing rather than starting at zero, so a metric that moves between 90 and 100 still looks like it’s moving. Read the exact figure from the number beside it.

Show what the card measures

A dashboard full of numbers doesn’t say where any of them came from. Turn on Show what the card measures and the card adds a small caption naming the workspace it counts, and saying filtered when a filter narrows it.

Filtering the dashboard changes the comparison and the trend line, exactly as it changes the number. Filter to completed records only and the percentage recalculates for completed records only.
