Custom Terminology

Rename workspace and record labels to match the terms that your organization uses.

Custom terminology changes the workspace and record labels that people see in Blue. For example, you can rename workspaces to Projects and records to Tasks.

Configure terminology

Workspace name (organisation-wide)

An organization administrator can change the workspace label for the entire organization.

  1. Open Organisation Settings > General.
  2. Find Terminology.
  3. Enter the singular form, such as Project or Client.
  4. Enter the plural form, such as Projects or Clients.
  5. Select Save. Blue applies the new label to every workspace in the organization.

All organization members see the new workspace label.

Record name (per workspace)

A workspace owner can change the record label for one workspace.

  1. Open Workspace Settings > Records.
  2. Find Terminology.
  3. Enter the singular form, such as Task, Ticket, or Lead.
  4. Enter the plural form, such as Tasks, Tickets, or Leads.
  5. Select Save. Blue applies the new label to the current workspace.

Each workspace can use a different record label. For example, a CRM workspace can use Leads while a support workspace uses Tickets.

Both settings use singular and plural forms. This lets Blue show labels such as Create a Task and View All Tasks.

Where it applies

Blue applies custom terminology to:

  • Menus and navigation
  • Buttons and dialogs, such as Create Workspace changing to Create Project
  • Empty states and onboarding screens
  • Notifications and email subjects
  • The mobile apps

API field names, URLs, and developer identifiers continue to use Blue’s standard terms. Custom terminology changes only labels that users see.

Behavior

  • Workspace terminology applies to every member and workspace in the organization.
  • Record terminology applies only to the workspace where you configure it.
  • Changes appear immediately without a reload.
  • To restore a default term, clear its override field.
