Relative Due Date Triggers
Run an event automation before, after, or when a record date expires.
The Date has expired trigger runs relative to each record’s date. Use it for the default due date or a custom date field.
Set the trigger at expiration or a specified number of minutes, hours, days, or weeks before or after expiration.
Create a Relative Date Automation
- Open the workspace’s Automations list.
- Select Create Automation > Event Automation.
- In When, select Date has expired.
- Under Date field, select Due date (default) or a custom date field.
- Under When to trigger, select at expiration, before expiration, or after expiration.
- For a before or after trigger, enter an offset and select minutes, hours, days, or weeks.
- To exclude completed records, select Restrict to incomplete records.
- Add one or more actions in Then.
- Select Create Automation.
Examples
- One day before the due date: Send a reminder email to the assignee.
- At expiration: Add a Due today tag.
- Three days after the due date: Add a manager as an assignee and add an Escalated tag.
- One week before a custom Renewal date: Copy the record to a follow-up workspace.
Behavior
- Blue schedules the automation separately for each record and selected date field.
- If the date changes before the scheduled time, Blue replaces the pending time with the new time.
- Records without a value in the selected date field do not start the automation.
- Completed records remain eligible unless you select Restrict to incomplete records.
- For an all-day date, expiration occurs after the due day. Before-expiration offsets use the end of the due day.
