Project Administrator
Understand the Project Administrator role, its workspace permissions, and how it differs from the Workspace Owner.
Project Administrator is the highest assignable administrative role in a workspace. Each workspace also has exactly one Owner.
Permissions
Project Administrators can:
- Edit all workspace settings.
- Add or remove workspace members.
- Assign user roles and permissions.
- Import and export workspace data.
- Delete the workspace.
- Create custom fields.
- Create custom roles.
- Configure automations.
- Edit doc pages.
- Manage forms.
These permissions provide full administrative control within the workspace.
When to use this role
Assign Project Administrator to people who must configure the workspace or manage its members. Examples include:
- Project managers
- Team leaders
- IT managers
- Business owners
Assign the role
When you invite a person from People, assign Project Administrator. You can also change an existing member’s role to Project Administrator.
Every workspace has exactly one Owner. Project Administrators are optional.
Remove the role
A Workspace Owner or Project Administrator can change another administrator to a standard or custom role. They cannot change their own role or the Owner’s role. Only the organization owner can transfer workspace ownership.
