Dependencies

Connect records to define a completion order and warn when dependencies remain incomplete.

Dependencies connect records that should be completed in a specific order. Blue warns you if you try to complete a blocked record first.

Each dependency has two sides:

  • Blocking: This record should be completed before the linked record.
  • Blocked By: The linked record should be completed before this record.

Create a dependency

  1. Open the record that should be completed first.
  2. Select Dependencies.
  3. Under Add as, select Blocking.
  4. Search for and select the record that this record should block. Blue adds the dependency immediately.

The linked record shows Blocked by.

Complete a blocked record

If you try to complete a blocked record, Blue shows its incomplete dependencies. Select Cancel to leave it incomplete, or select Mark Complete Anyway to complete it.

Remove a dependency

  1. Open either linked record.
  2. Select Dependencies.
  3. Point to the linked record.
  4. Select the remove control. Blue removes the dependency from both records.

Activity history

Blue records dependency changes in each record’s Activity section. Use the entries to review changes to the completion order.
